In 1998, Rapp Optical moved away from eyewear design temporarily to focus on another one of Mel Rapp’s passions, writing instruments. The “Lula Twist� ball point pen was designed and protoyped in house and manufactured in France. Accompanying the pen was a line of modular pen stands and desk sets. The pen was produced in a limited edition, and was met by a warm reception in the industry.
