In 1998, Rapp Optical moved away from eyewear design temporarily to focus on another one of Mel Rapp’s passions, writing instruments. The “Lula Twist” ball point pen was designed and protoyped in house and manufactured in France. Accompanying the pen was a line of modular pen stands and desk sets. The pen was produced in a limited edition, and was met by a warm reception in the industry.
